The Cult of Obama Comes to School

By The Peter Morrison Report

On September 8th, Barack Obama delivered a speech to 1500 students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia, which was also broadcast to almost every public school in the nation (as well as many private schools).  Obama's plan was to have every student in American schools watch the speech.  He and his liberal apologists in the media billed it as simply a motivational speech along the lines of "work hard, stay in school, and you can achieve your dreams."  That certainly sounds good; who could possibly be against something like that?  (Even many Christian schools fell for this line.)

As we all know, however, any time you're dealing with liberal politicians or their mouthpieces in the mainstream media, there's a whole lot more to the story than they tell us.  This speech was very important to them, and they wanted nothing standing in their way.  So when conservatives started speaking out against Obama's plan, and parents began demanding that their local school either not show the speech or let their kids opt out of watching it, the media assaults on us and our values began filling the airwaves and the internet.   It came as no surprise that the MSM attributed opposition to the speech to "racism", since much of the media regards any conservative opposition to Obama as inherently "racist."

The abuse didn't stop there, however.  Incredibly, one commentator even declared on national television that parents who don't want their kids subjected to Obama's propaganda are not only "racist", but are also too stupid to be raising kids in the first place. John Harwood, from the New York Times and CNBC, has this to say on the Today Show:  "In this case you've got a lot of people who are truly agitated about [the president's school speech] and I think partly that's the polarization continuing over time. And partly it's simply because Barack Obama is a different kind of president: first African-American, international elements of his background. But I gotta tell you, Amy, as somebody who's covered Washington for a long time, this is one of the most ridiculous controversies I've ever seen. So far as I can tell, the biggest danger to kids in this whole thing is that a lot of the parents complaining aren't smart enough to raise them very effectively."

These vile insults are standard operating procedure when liberals talk about conservatives.  That's exactly what many in the media think of people like you and me, even if most aren't quite as bold as John Harwood.  The consensus of the MSM has been that having Obama give a "pep talk" to every kid in America is a wonderful idea; so wonderful, in fact, that no rational person could oppose it.  They pointed to the text of Obama's message, which was full of platitudes and banalities about the importance of school, and
insisted that no reasonable person could have any possible objections to it.

This kind of "analysis" of Obama's speech by the media is nothing but obfuscation.  There were things to object to in the speech and even more so in the follow-up activities that were to follow and I'll get to that shortly, but conservatives' opposition to this event was based on a lot more than the mere text of the speech. They recognized this ploy for exactly what it is - an attempt to win the hearts and minds of America's children for Obama and the
Democrats.  The mainstream media has spent months portraying Obama as the greatest candidate and President in American history.  They treat him as a demigod, a man who's above mere mortals like us. He's considered to be a healer, a uniter, and only he can save America from itself.  This worshipful treatment of Obama by the media is largely the reason he won the election.  Had they treated him like any other candidate, Hilary Clinton would probably have gotten the Democratic nomination and John McCain would be in the White House today.

Children, though, don't watch news programs and political talk shows.  The liberals need another way to program their minds.  What better way than to beam Obama's smiling image into every school in America, and have him give a talk as if he's their helpful big brother who just wants to see them succeed in life?  That was the whole point of the speech - to drag millions of our children into Obama's cult of personality.  They, too, must understand that he's
a man like no other in history, the only man who can "save" our country, and that any criticism of him is "racist."  They must be taught to recite, like mindless Hollywood zombies in that infamous YouTube video, that "I pledge to serve my President", as if Obama is some sort of king or pharaoh.   That's why the White House issued after-speech guidelines for the schools, telling them to have kids write letters about "how I can help the President."

That's what parents were objecting to, and rightly so.  On top of that, Obama's speech contained plenty of propaganda, in both what was said and what was omitted.  He told kids that they may face road blocks, such as discrimination.  Really?  It makes me wonder which kids he's speaking to, because I'm not sure of where in America minorities are facing discrimination in employment or
education.  What company won't hire non-whites?  What schools won't accept minorities?  What banks makes loan decisions on skin color? Because if they're out there, there is a long line of civil rights attorneys and federal judges that would love to make their acquaintance. On the other hand, major institutions frequently discriminate by using quotas, preferences and affirmative action to favor minorities, and Obama and his wife as beneficiaries of this system should be well aware of this practice.

He went on to say that students could take part in helping to "make
our nation more fair." From a man with socialist redistribution of
wealth tendencies, I wonder exactly what he means when he says that America should be more "fair."

Obama didn't mention the fact that he's in favor of racial discrimination against the white students listening.  He has already appointed a Supreme Court justice who is a big fan of racial preferences for non-whites and will no doubt make the problem even worse from the high court.  Obama has made it clear he intends to do much, much more to expand affirmative action, racial
quotas, and other anti-white discrimination.  So he didn't tell them about all the aspiring policemen, firefighters, doctors, lawyers, etc., who will grow up to see their dreams crushed because they're white, and even though they're the best qualified, another person will get that dream job or college admission on the basis of their skin color.  Getting kids talking about those realities wouldn't "help the President." Furthermore, some might even object and say that those discriminatory policies aren't "fair."

No, the parents who objected to Obama's speech aren't racist, and they're certainly not stupid.  They see exactly what's going on, and are doing their best to fight it.  I spoke up in my community along with many others and thankfully, our local schools didn't broadcast the speech.  Many other concerned parents across America did the same thing, and were successful in helping to keep Obama's propaganda out of their schools too.  That's what we need - concerned citizens willing to speak out, and roll up their sleeves
to fight these battles.  When we do that, we win.  If enough of us will start doing it, all over Texas and America, we can stop the Obama revolution in its tracks. Say it with me, "Yes, we can!"
